Thank you for these words and reminders- and also a hope that as we lay down and pick up lost loves, the seasons of life are there to meet us every time. Glad to hear your drawing is growing with you this season!
WOW this really woke me up! I want to fall BACK in love with writing. I loved writing it was a release for me and like you it was my speech because I was afraid to speak. I learned early in life how much power my words held so it silenced me to writing. Thank you for sharing and I pray you keep writing.
I loved reading every word of your rememory…thank you for sharing. Thank you for tapping me on the shoulder, making me think about my childhood loves that I need to recapture. My mother made me a writer at a young age after she had to move to Georgia while my brother and I stayed in Detroit with my father. The word “had” plays a big role in the evolution of that story. But she’d write to me and I’d write back. As a ten year old, I don’t remember what I talked about but that is when my need for writing, journaling and crying started. As much as I need air, water and music, so do I need to write. Thank you John.
This is beautiful. Thanks for engaging Cerra! After reading such a beautiful paragraph, imagine my surprise when I clicked on your link and substack gave me the unfortunate news that you haven't published any posts yet. Hmmm...we need to change that.
This is beautifully written, and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts of childhood memories. I have yet to do so, the only thing that stands out at the moment is my father taking us to the movies on Easter Sunday and how happy I was that day with my petticoat dress and ruffled socks, holding his hand on our way to see 101 Dalmatians with Glenn Close. What a pleasant time with my siblings and my father that day so many years ago! ;)
"A picture paints a thousand words". May this cause the words of loss damed up inside to break forth and overflow stirring new affection for the only One who makes us whole.
Thank you Kim. I let these letters fly at 4am and I always know you're going to be one of the first to read, like, and comment! I so value the way you try to turn our attention upwards to the Divine! Thank you sis

It's been such a gift! The realest of ones. Thanks so much Desiree

Okay, it's settled. We're going to the movies next time I'm in Dallas!

What a beautiful homecoming! My father stuttered and was moved by this. Please keep drawing, you are so good at it!
