The garden of your ideal life is littered with disappointment.
Most of us are familiar with depression at our lowest points. We know depression loves to ride shotgun as we travel through the Valley of the Shadow of Death. What throws us off is when we find depression, not on in the valleys, but the mountaintops. Not in our lowest moments, but our highest.
We’ve been led to believe that the answer to our depression is found in winning, achieving, gaining, and succeeding. We imagine success as some hiding place. Some home base that exempts us from being tagged by depression.
In the summer of 2020, I sat down with my friend Andy Mineo to talk about this. We’ve bonded through the years over our shared love for coffee, life, Ecclesiastes, and journeying through death, grief, heartache, and everything that follows.
I want to give y’all a chance to eavesdrop on this conversation. I find that eavesdropping in on conversations about life and loss and grief is one of the best ways to engage the topic. We’re not giving advice, so you don’t have to be defensive. You can tap-in and tap-out whenever you want. Take things that are helpful and leave behind things that don’t apply!
Enjoy! Leave a comment if you find something that’s helpful!
